Boy Scouts Race on Moss Street

NEW BERLIN – The New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 hosted the 2019 Soap Box Derby on June 15th as part of the 75th Anniversary celebration.

Boy Scouts from NY City, Pennsylvania, Morris, and New Berlin raced down Moss Street with both huge smiles and great concentration.

Each scout received a patch. Each troop's top racers were awarded a first and second place trophy. The top three finishers of the day were from Pennsylvania Troop 89, NYC Troop 5, and Morris Troop 3.

A special feature of the event were the two 2-seater cars that those with special needs enjoyed - the men from Moss Street and Pathfinders.

The event was made possible by a number of contributors: lunch was provided by NY Pizzeria; New Berlin DPW blocked off the street and supplied the orange cones; Preferred Mutual contributed the parking area; Curtis Lumber added the pvc pipes for safety barriers at each driveway; and St. Andrew's Church provided the rest rooms. Mark Scuderi, Regional Director of the Soap Box Derby Association, supervised the event.
