NEW BERLIN – The Bobcats of Bainbridge-Guilford led by 10 at halftime over the host Unadilla Valley Storm in a MAC conference battle Thursday night. After the two teams each scored six points in the third, the game was still in reach for the Storm with one quarter remaining.
That was until the Bobcats went on a 17-5 run in the final eight minute stretch behind Erica Selfridge’s eight points, moving on to defeat UV 55-33.
The two teams met for the second time this season and unlike the first meeting where B-G started off the game hot, the Storm were within three points after the first quarter.
Bainbridge-Guilford slightly grew the margin, outscoring Unadilla Valley 19-12 in the second with balanced scoring throughout the players that stepped onto the court in the quarter.
Out of the intermission, the Storm matched points with B-G in the third, setting up the comeback potential for the fourth.
UV pulled within eight at one point in the final stanza but when the Bobcats’ Selfridge knocked down two 3-pointers, it took the wind out the Storm’s sail.
“We played them much better than we did 2 weeks ago,” said Unadilla Valley’s head coach Brandi Whitbeck. “However, poor foul shoot and too many turnovers aren’t going to help you beat a team like [Bainbridge-Guilford].”
Unadilla Valley’s Shelby Meade finished with a double-double for the contest, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Teammates Kyleigh George and Meegan White each added seven points for the Storm.
Selfridge ended the night with 13 points while older sister Abi led all scorers in the game, posting 17 points in the scoring column.
The win at Unadilla Valley gives Bobcats back-to-back road wins for the week. On Tuesday, B-G traveled to Chenango Forks and defeated the non-league opponent 71-43.
Bainbridge-Guilford led by six points at the break but out of the break separated themselves for the win by pouring in 24 points as a team in the third quarter.
The Bobcats defense held Forks to a total of 13 points in the second half.
Abi Selfridge tallied a game-high 20 in the contest while Macie Leizear finished with 16 points. Erica Selfridge chipped in 12 in the win.
Both Bainbridge-Guilford and Unadilla Valley host holiday tournaments Thursday and Friday. The Kazalski tournament will see Tioga, Sidney and Deposit-Hancock as the other three teams hosted by the Bobcats.
The Storm will play Sherburne-Earlville in the first round of the UV Holiday classic on Thursday.

Oxford 48, Sidney 25
OXFORD – The inside game worked for the Blackhawks on Thursday in their MAC conference battle with the Sidney Warriors. The Oxford forwards of Karley Miller and Caitlyn Quigley combined for 29 of the home teams 48 points, aiding in the 48-25 win.
The first two quarters of play saw the Blackhawks jump out to a 29-10 advantage as their defense held Sidney to just four made field goals. Offensively, Oxford was led by Quigley’s 10 points in the half but saw balanced scoring throughout the line up.
In the third quarter, the Warriors outscored the home team 14-11 behind Emma Simmons seven points – five coming at the free throw line. However, the first half lead deficit held by the Blackhawks was took much to overcome for Sidney.
During the final stretch, Oxford held the Warriors to one point that came on a made foul shot by Crystal Bivar. Miller paced her team’s offensive attack, putting up half of the points tallied by the Blackhawks in the fourth.
