Oxford, UV And B-G Volleyball All Take Road Wins

SIDNEY – The Lady Blackhawks of Oxford convincingly swept the host Warriors of Sidney in three straight sets.

In the final two games, Oxford allowed the Warriors to score just six and three points. Sidney held tough in first game, battling to score 16 points but the Blackhawks put the home team away with a final of 25-16.

Allison Beckwith led the way for Oxford with six aces, seven kills and 10 assists. Her teammates Kelsey Drewniak ended the night with four kills and Lilie Horton served up three aces. Allison Pastor added two digs.

Seycelle Kolic and Baylee Jones had two aces each for Sidney while Jones added a kill to her stat line. Ale Johnson had an assist and a kill and teammate Amber Rodgers dished out two assists.

Oxford is now waiting for their seed and schedule for the Midstate Athletic Conference tournament.

Unadilla Valley 3, Harpursville 1

HARPURSVILLE – Tied after two sets, Unadilla Valley fought to defeat Harpursville/Afton 3-1 Wednesday evening.

The Storm took the first game by 13 points but the Hornets battled to take game two 25-17. The final two games were settled by a difference of no more than five points, falling in favor of UV 25-20 and 28-26.

Jenna Hitt served up 10 aces and dominated the net play with nine kills for the Storm. Rebecca Ruffino displayed the hustle play for UV as she finished the game with 13 digs while teammate Erin Kelly tallied eight digs and six assists. Sierra Schrag delivered nine assists in the four game match.

The Hornets’ Sophie Gove ended the night with six aces and 17 assists and teammate Oliviah Harris-Morris had six kills and one block. Kylie Havens prevented points by the Storm as she had five blocks and 11 points with digs. Tori Johnson and Mallory Carman matched Havens in the digs column as they recorded 11 digs also.
