SHOREHAM – 18 riders from the All American BMX team traveled to Shoreham BMX in Long Island for the New York State Championship Race in late September. The riders participated in a pre-race event Friday evening and raced for a state championship on Saturday.

Points from the championship race were combined with the racers tally earned in the qualifier race to make up their overall ranking in the entire state for the year. Camryn Searfoss and Carter Rudnitski returned home with No. 1 plates in their respective age divisions while there were a total Vinny Lawson ended the weekend with a second place ranking in two different classes.

As the team is not just for kids, Jim Fox raced in the 61 and over age group and also returned home with a No. 2 plate. The rest of the riders all finished within the top 10 in their age divisions.

Two of the team’s balance bike riders also raced in the championship race on Saturday. Ella Willis placed second in the five year old division while Bryn Ballin also placed second one in 4-year-old age group.

The week prior to the state championships, Searfoss traveled to the Akron BMX Track in Akron, Ohio to race in the Northeast Gold Cup Championship. Searfoss finished the racing series at second in the 10 and under girls cruiser division and and fourth in 9 Girls. “Her love of racing and her family’s dedication to the sport were truly seen, as they embraced the extra distance and went to support her in following her racing dream,” said Rachel Ballin, All American BMX board member.

“We are all very proud of the All American BMX riders for all their hard work and dedication to the sport,” said Ballin. “They all show amazing sportsmanship, both on and off the track. Their love of BMX shows, especially as they travel far distances and spend long hours on their bikes – both on and off the track – working hard to improve their skills and reach new racing goals.”

The group will continue racing the local circuit of tracks as they prepare for the Winter Series at Grippen BMX Park.
