OXFORD – The Oxford boy’s varsity basketball team fell to 4-7 on the season after a loss to Walton last night, Jan. 19.
The Blackhawks offense struggled immensely in the first quarter, only mustering up four points, and that was the decisive turning point.
Despite playing competitively for the remainder of the game, Oxford could never catch Walton, and succumbed to defeat on a scoreline of 61-47.
“We dug ourselves in a hole early in the game, and never made it out,” said Blackhawks head coach Tim Davis following his side’s defeat.
Jordan Davis was the star of the show for Oxford on the night, as he shot a game high 21 points, and added 11 rebounds to the stat sheet.
Oxford will take a trip to Unatego next Monday, Jan. 23, in an attempt to get back to winning ways. Tip-off in that matchup is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

EDMESTON – The UV Storm felt the sting of an overtime loss on Wednesday, Jan. 18, when they travelled to take on Edmeston.
The Storm led by six points at the half, but a poor fourth quarter, in which they put just eight points on the scoreboard, sent the game to overtime.
Edmeston’s Josh Martin put his team on his back, as he accounted for seven of the 16 points that his side scored in the period to clinch the victory.
Best in the tough loss for UV was Andrew Jackson, who finished with 17 points, while Mason Mikalunas added 14 more to the Storm’s cause.

SHERBURNE – The Marauder’s boys varsity stayed hot as they picked up their ninth win from their last 10 games, securing a 56-39 victory over Waterville last Wednesday, Jan. 18.
S-E led from the get-go, and never took their foot off the pedal. Although they only carried a four-point lead into halftime, they turned things up an extra notch on the offensive end in the second half, and ended up comfortable winning by a comfortable 17-point margin.
