NORWICH – The Valley Heights boys varsity basketball team snagged a fantastic win over North Spencer Christian Academy at 47-25 early in January; before recently dropping three games in their Central Baptist tournament last week.

The game played on Jan. 6, featured a Valley Heights team who's prolific offense shined through in their winning efforts – posting double digit scoring in three of the four periods of play.

Trailing the two, were Tyler Stockwell had with 11 points, Jacob Van Althuis with six points, Matthew Diers with four and Jason Graham with his two points – as the total team effort from Valley Heights secured the win.

With a 16 point first period, Valley Heights gained the early control over North Spencer who scored just four points to open up the game. Taking advantage of the early lead, Valley Heights rained down the points in the second half, as well, with 10 additional points to take the game to a 26-12 halftime lead.

Emerging a little soft in the third – eight points scored – the Valley Heights boys regained their momentum to close out the game with a 13-9 fourth period, taking the win at 47-25.

Following the win for the boys, they ventured to the 14th annual Central Baptist tournament in Binghamton. This tournament did not fair as Valley Heights would have hoped as they fell to an 0-3 tournament record. Valley Heights first fell to Cornerstone Christian Academy of Connecticut by a score 48-15.
