WALTON – The Unadilla Valley Lady Storm varsity basketball team has skidded to yet another loss on the season when they traveled to Walton for their latest game.
Walton used a slow first period from UV, to springboard them to victory. Unadilla Valley was allowed to only find the net twice – coupled with two extra-points made – as the Warriors of Walton snagged a good 12-6 lead after just one.
Despite fighting through the slow start to finish the half strong, UV fell back on their heels for the start of the third period – where any momentum built to that point diminished as UV only managed four points in the third.
“We had a hard time scoring. Could not get anything going from the foul line either,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Brandi Whitbeck. “Fell asleep on the shooters all night.”
Unadilla Valley once again recovered to post a strong fourth period of play – 11 points – but it would ultimately be too little too late for the lady Storm as they fell on Jan. 11, to Walton by a score of 43-32.
Up next for Unadilla Valley, weather permitting they will be heading to Chenango Forks for their next game on Jan. 12, at 7:15 p.m.

WALTON – Opportunistic points, a strong second half, and six points is all that separated Unadilla Valley's boys varsity basketball team from another win on the season – as Walton pulled away for the 68-62 win.
The game on Wednesday, Jan. 11, featured two high-powered offensive performances throughout the game as just after the first period the score was 19-16 in favor of Walton.
Despite the early lead for the Warriors, it was the Storm who took the halftime lead at 39-36 following a solid performance from Andrew Jackson in the period. Jackson finished the game with a game best 24 points, scoring 11 of those 24 in the second period alone. This brief lead for UV was just that, brief. As an improved Walton defense emerged from the break to stifle the prolific offense of the Storm – holding them to just seven third period points, this performance to open the second was all Walton needed to pull ahead and remain their to close out their home win.
Next up for Unadilla Valley (3-6 overall, 2-2 league) they will be hosting Deposit on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7:15 p.m.

SHERBURNE – The lady marauders were locked in a recent one-sided battle with Canastota this past Friday, as S-E trounced their opponent 60-18.
This lopsided affair saw an S-E team demolish Canastota who simply could not and did not match the caliber of play coming from the lady Marauders. Sherburne-Earlville jumped out to an early 24-2 lead after just the first period before climbing to a 36-6 lead at the half.
Doing the majority of the damage for Sherburne-Earlville was Miranda Wright who smashed her way into the scoresheet with 21 points in the game – notably Wright did much of her damage in the early parts of the game.
Already up 36-6, the 30 point lead was not sufficient for the Sherburne-Earlville ladies as they tagged on another full period attacking the net – racking up 18 more points to Canastota's mere four scored in the third.
After benching some key players Canastota was able to score eight fourth period points to bring the score back around to a final score of 60-18 in favor of the home team.
Next up for the Sherburne-Earlville girls (8-4 overall) they will travel to Sauquoit Valley later on this evening, Jan. 12, to play the Indians at 7 p.m.
