Rt. 12 MVC causes power outage, leads to arrest

NORWICH – A one-vehicle accident occurred northbound on State Route 12 in the Town of Norwich on Sunday evening, July 17.

After the initial call came in, at approximately 6:50 p.m., the road was closed for about five hours while crews cleaned up the accident scene.

Chenango Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene after a report of vehicle struck a utility pole, causing wires to be strewn across the road and knocking out power to multiple businesses and residents in both the City and Town of Norwich.

While investigating the matter, it was discovered the driver, identified as Robert W. Youngblood, age 30 of Valley View Park, Norwich was operating a 2009 Dodge Caravan while under the influence of drugs.
