The second quarter went much of the same way as the first. Receiver Lincoln Owen caught a Hull pass for 11 yards and the score, while Brodie Roebuck would take another in from four yards, giving S-E a lead of 21-0 over the home team. On defense Matt Hull recorded a school-record four interceptions in the defensive rout of the Lancers. S-E would also finish with seven sacks on the night.

It wasn’t until the third quarter when Lafayette would finally put points on the board, tackling S-E in their own end zone for a safety and ended S-E’s streak of 10 scoreless quarters. The Marauders would bounce back though and score one last time in the third on a 27 yard run by Roebuck to give the game its final score of 28-2.

S-E plays again this Friday, October 23, when they travel to Utica to play Notre Dame.

The Storm’s first score came from a Mason Fernette run from two yards out. After a good two point conversion, UV was up 8-0. Just a few minutes later, Fernette did it again, this time from 65 yards. Another two point conversion gave the Storm a 16 point lead. Fernette would find the end zone once more after a long drive to the two yard line where he punched it in. Fernette would end the game with 171 yards on the ground, 73 passing yards, and four touchdowns.

In the second quarter is where Unatego would start to chip away at UV’s 22 point lead, scoring just once in the second. At the end of the half UV was up 22-6 on Unatego.

In the third quarter Unatego scored twice more and converted the two point attempts to give themselves 16 more points and the tie. Both teams would struggle to find the end zone in the fourth quarter and regulation would end with both teams at 22.

It took three overtimes before a team could find their way into the end zone. UV’s Ryan Postma would catch the winning touchdown from Fernette for the score to give the game its final of 28-22 after a long night of play.
