Norwich

WINDSOR - The Norwich varsity boys' soccer team traveled to Windsor Friday, September 25 to play in what would be a very close game. After all was said and done the final score was 2-1 in favor of Windsor.

After a scoreless first half, both teams would do their best to outscore the other. Windsor ended up scoring both of their goals and limiting Norwich to only one. The lone score for the Purple Tornado was from Pablo Rojas. Rojas took a long pass down the sidelines from teammate Luis Diaz, then headed the ball past the opposing goal keeper and into the net for the score. "It was really a textbook play," said Norwich coach Scottie Decker. "Pablo and Luis really did a great job."

Norwich would have another chance to score to tie it up, but the shot would ultimately skim just over the cross bar and away from the net. Norwich played a very well executed game for the young team, passing the ball well and playing great defense. Goal keeper Keegan Prime would register 16 saves on the day, all in spectacular fashion. "I couldn't be more proud of the boys," Decker said. "We've got just a few more things to work on, but I think that we've improved tremendously."

Norwich plays again this Wednesday, September 30 when they host Chenango Forks.

Individual statistics: Norwich; Pablo Rojas, 1 goal. Luis Diaz, 1 assist. Keegan Prime, 16 saves.

Team statistics: Norwich; goals, 1. Assists, 1. Corner kicks, 2. Saves, 16. Windsor; goals, 2. Corner kicks, 9.
