Sherburne-Earlville
SHERBURNE - Five teams competed last night, Wednesday, September, 16, in a cross country meet hosted by the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders. Running for S-E boys was the lone senior Brandon Lambert, Kenny Ulrich, Tristan Rainford, Gavin Reid, Caleb Larcher, Adam Aldrich, and Reily Webster. In Lambert's last home meet he ran a 21:10 for the three mile course and finished in fourth on his team. "Brandon came to the season as prepared as he could ever be," said S-E coach Ann Geary. "He's running two to two and a half minutes faster than he did last season and is really helping the team out a lot."
Lambert is a team captain this year and is continuously finishing in the top five spots on the team. "His leadership and consistency are really appreciated," Geary said. "He will be missed."
Finishing in the top three overal for the boys were Devin Murphy, Sauquoit, 16:35, Sam Sharlow, Oriskany, 16:41, and Dylan Canarelli, Sauquoit, 16:56.
For the girls Sherburne-Earlville's Miranda Wright finished ahead of her teammates and ran a 24:24, placing her in the top 20 runners for the girls division. Following closely behind was Ashly Palmer and Emma Baker. Palmer ran a 29:21 and Baker finished with a 30:05 on the day.
The top three racers for the girls were Sage, Hurta, Hamilton, 16:58. Sarah Sharpe, New York Mills, 19:05, and Marrisa Jones, Sauquiot, 19:07.

Bainbridge-Guilford/Greene
GREENE - In a match-up that could be a preview of the MAC play offs, Bainbridge-Guilford's varsity boys soccer team traveled to Greene last night, September, 16, to take on the Trojans. The game would end with Greene winning 4-1.
After taking the MAC title last season, B-G was looking for a win again against a Greene team who had held the title the previous six years. B-G had no suck luck against a Trojans team that would score three goals in the second half.
For Greene it was Luke Day who would outscore his opponent with two goals and one assist on the day. Also scoring were Spencer Klumpp and River McClumiskey for Greene.
B-G's lone goal came in the second half on a shot by Xavier Cherniak from an assist from Trevor Halaquist.
At the end of the day Greene would improve to 3-1 on the season.

Norwich
JOHNSON CITY - In their fifth game of the season the Norwich varsity boys soccer team traveled to Johnson City to take on the Wildcats. After the final whistle blew and the dust settled JC came out on top 9-0.
"They really were a premier team," said Norwich coach Scottie Decker. "My guys are still young and learning but I think that they're finally starting to play soccer."
In the first 40 minutes of the game Johnson City scored four points. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Jarif Proker who scored four goals over the course of the game. Proker was almost un-coverable all game and tore through the Norwich defense. The Tornado's best chance to score came off of a Luis Diaz shot that was ultimately deflected.
In goal for Norwich was Keegan Prime. Prime ended the day with 15 saves and had his hands full with shots from the JC offense.
