NORWICH – Luis A. Calixto, 34, of Norwich appeared in Chenango County Court in front of Chenango County Court Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr., on the matter of a possible change of plea, and sentencing.
Calixto's attorney on the matter was John D. Cameron, while the people were represented by First Assistant District Attorney, Michael D. Ferrarese.
At this time, Judge Revoir addressed the defendant and his attorney asking if they were willing to change their plea from not-guilty to a guilty plea.
This change of plea from not guilty to guilty was for the top charge of criminal possession in the third degree, a class B felony, stemming from a previous matter.
The original arrest took place on April 29, 2015, following a 'no-knock' warrant that was obtained after an investigation into the sale and manufacture of narcotics that spanned several months. According to the NPD, Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. signed the warrant.
This 'no-knock' drug raid saw four people arrested with three being charged with manufacturing meth.
According to police, several ‘one-pot’ methamphetamine cooking containers were located inside the residence.
Luis A. Calixto, along with Hollianne M. Fitch, 29, of Norwich; and Dorothy M. Owens, 32, of Norwich, were all charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony (Calixto was charged with two counts of this charge, as he was alleged to be the head of the operation); unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, a class D felony; criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor; and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The New York State Police, the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office, and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Norwich Police Department with this investigation. The Norwich Fire Department also assisted NYSP CCERT during their collection of the chemicals and containers.
A grand jury indictment was also released on this matter which saw all three of the defendants names and various charges.
