NORWICH – Norwich completed an unbeaten division schedule as it heads toward the STAC team playoffs this Friday blanking Oneonta Wednesday on senior recognition day.

All of the seniors in the Norwich lineup were part of straight sets wins including Zan Stewart, Colin Stewart, and Matt Craig in singles, first doubles team Brendon Budd and Alec Weaver, while senior Mike McLaughlin teamed with Jordan Vinal for a victory at third doubles.

Norwich will host Maine-Endwell at 4:15 p.m. in a matchup that head coach John Stewart believes is a toss-up. "They're senior loaded and we're senior loaded," Stewart said. "I think both teams will have their hands full, and it will be our best match of the season."

Oneonta 5, Norwich 1

ONEONTA – Oneonta left-hander Brock Eichler struck out 11 Norwich batters and allowed just four hits to earn the win over the Purple Tornado Wednesday.

The Yellowjackets, on top of the STAC East, scored two runs in their opening at-bat. Connor Tavarone doubled in the first run, and Tavarone later scored on Norwich's lone error of the game.

"I was happy with our play, and it was a good game to be a part of," said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull. "They just made more baseball plays than us."

Norwich scored in the seventh when Chris Trevisani singled, and Chris Jeffrey ripped a line drive to the outfield that was misplayed. That error, Oneonta's lone miscue of the game, allowed Trevisani to come around to score.

Norwich hosts Owego Friday.

Morris scored two runs on Zach Franklin's bases-loaded single giving the Mustangs the comeback win. "It doesn't feel good, but I guess it is what it is," said G-MU coach Dana Zietz. "After the game, we talked about closing out games because this has happened two days in a row. If we want to beat Richfield Springs Friday, we'll have to play better in the field."

The Raiders committed seven errors in the game, but only one miscue came in the final inning.

G-MU put four runs on the board in the top of the seventh to snag the one-run lead. Andrew Baker and Nate Fuller had RBI sacrifice flies, and the other two G-MU runs came in on an error and a passed ball.
