Norwich 4, Seton Catholic Central 3
NORWICH – Norwich's many-times-delayed season-opener proved worth the wait as the Tornado rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat the Saints Tuesday.
Locked in a 3-3 tie, Taylor Myers drew a pinch-hit walk, and Payten Seiler came in to pinch-run for Myers. Seiler moved to second on a passed ball, and scored the game-winner on Hannah Eddy's single to right field.
"We had three starters that had to leave early, but everyone battled and did what they had to do," said Norwich coach Scott Moore. "There were some first-game jitters, and it was the first time we had seen live pitching.
"Seton always has the same mentality; they play small ball, they have a couple that do the long ball, and their pitchers move the ball around."
Gabby Mirabito tripled and scored Norwich’s first run in the third. Norwich then tied the game with two runs in the fourth. Jordan Sanford singled in Shannon Moore, and Kassidy Seary scored the tying run after a passed ball.

Norwich sweeps Windsor
WINDSOR – Despite expected – and unexpected – absences, Norwich displayed superior depth to sweep Windsor Tuesday afternoon.
The Tornado girls rolled to an 80-50 win, while the NHS boys clipped the Black Knights, 73.5-63.5.
Norwich's Emily Shattuck won four overall events taking the 100-, 200- and 400-meter races, and added a first in the long jump.
Norwich swept all three placement spots in the 200 meters, and went one-two in the shot put and discus. Katelyn Shaver captured both events for Norwich.
"We had to shift things around quite a bit, and the team came up big time," said Norwich coach Shaun Horan.
Norwich’s boys went one-two in the pole vault and 110-meter hurdles to set the tone early with Dashawn King winning the former, and Ky'sawn Veale taking the latter.
David Bernstein set a personal best in the discus with one of the best throws in Section IV this season. Bernstein went 151-feet, 9 inches, and he tacked on a second win in the shot put.
Norwich runs at Newark Valley Saturday.
