Guernsey Library Will Expand Board Size In 2015 Election

By: Michael Collins

NORWICH – Guernsey Memorial library looks to expand the size of its board of trustees from five to seven members with this year’s election on May 19.

The library is urging eligible, and interested, community members to come and run for the board positions to be up for election in 2015.

This year’s election will, in fact, be for four spots on the soon-to-be seven member board. One spot is due to a trustee that resigned last year, one spot is the one seat that comes up for election annually, and the final two spots are dedicated to the expansion seats.

Library Director, Connie Dalrymple, explained that increasing the size of the board will make it easier for the sitting board to reach a quorum. Furthermore, Dalrymple added that expanding the board will also expand the board’s connection to the public. “It will broaden our contact in the community,” said Dalrymple. “The more people you are in contact with, the better.”
