Sherburne-Earlville 59, Canastota 47
SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville advanced to the Section III Class B semifinals Sunday afternoon at Onondaga Community College outlasting Canastota Tuesday night.
Ben Khoury hit three free throws with just over a minute to play, and the Marauders made six total free throws down the stretch to pull away.
“I told the kids before the game that at this point in the season, it’s survive and advance,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “The fourth quarter, we survived. We knew this game would be tough because we know each other so well, and they (Canastota) play really hard.”
The Marauders dominated the middle two periods, and after a 22-8 third quarter, stretched their lead to 20 points. Khoury had seven of his 14 points in the third, and Derek Capria hit both of his three-pointers. Capria added 13 points in the win, while Gavin Giroux and Matt Hull netted nine apiece.
S-E plays Syracuse Academy of Science at 1:45 p.m.

Norwich 52, Whitney Point 49
NORWICH – Norwich constructed a 22-point lead in the second half, and then withstood Whitney Point’s hard charge in the fourth quarter to advance in the Section IV Class B playoffs.
The Eagles’ Brittney Randall hit three three-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Bri Sturdevant trey with 2:21 left drew her team within 45-41. Sturdevant’s bucket was part a 12-0 Whitney Point run.
On the next possession, Norwich’s Carin Kuhn drove into the lane, and dished to Kassidy Seary at the foul line, who nailed a 15-footer to put Norwich back up by six. A Savannah Williams layup and two free throws by Seary seemed to have Norwich in control. Missed free throws late, however, kept Whitney Point in the hunt.
Randall had a look at a tying three to end the game that hit the front of the rim. “We just got on the wrong side of the momentum, and had a difficult time turning it back in our favor,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “It seemed like every point, when (Whitney Point) got the momentum going, was the hardest thing in the world to come by.”
Norwich turned Whitney Point over 27 times through the first three quarters. Kuhn hit a corner three early in the third, and single free throws by Kuhn and Makenzie Maynard gave Norwich its biggest lead, 35-13, with less than five minutes left in the third.
Seary, starting for injured Meghan Komendarek, had her best game as a varsity player scoring 14 points to go with 15 rebounds. Maynard added 11 for Norwich (15-4) in the victory.
