SHERBURNE – It was a “grand” night for Frankfort-Schuyler in Thursday’s victory over Sherburne-Earlville.

Danielle Migliore stopped a third-quarter S-E run hitting a three ball to raise her team’s lead back to eight, 39-31. With the shot, the Knights guard surpassed 1,000 career points on her way to a 28-point evening.

Migliore had six threes in the game, and many were converted several feet behind the three-point arc. “We tried box-and-one, getting out to her in man...it didn’t seem to matter much,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan of Migliore.

Migliore and Danielle Caivana hit back-to-back threes in the second quarter lifting their club to a 32-17 lead. S-E climbed back to within 34-26 by halftime as Emily Stanton made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 2 1/2 minutes.

Two buckets from Sydney Palmer and a free throw by Stacia Beckwith closed the F-S lead to 36-31 early in the third. Migliore responded to a Palmer basket just nine seconds later with a dagger three.

In the defeat, S-E junior Lilly Berg became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 789 points. Berg finished with 23 points and 19 rebounds in the defeat. Savannah Irwin added 12 points.

“The shots weren’t falling tonight and it could have been easy for us to let the game get out of hand,” Mulligan said. “I was proud of the way we didn’t quit and kept battling.”

The Marauders (8-4) play Canastota next Thursday.

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford coach Bob Conway could not remember a quarter where one of his teams shot the ball any better.

The Bobcats went 13-for-16 in a scintillating third quarter in which it put 27 points on the board, and most of the baskets were not layups. “I think we came out and hit the first five shots of the quarter; we just exploded,” Conway said. “We shot lights out in that quarter.”

B-G was “lights out” for most of the game finishing 36-for-68 from the field, a nifty 53 percent. “That would be nice every night, I’ll take that,” Conway said of the shooting.

Megan Palmatier and Becca Reyes had 16 points apiece for the Bobcats leading five players in double figures. Taylor Palmatier added 12 points and five assists, while Morgan Bullis and Abi Selfridge scored 10 apiece. Bullis chipped in 11 rebounds and seven assists.
