Norwich 57, Chenango Valley 29
NORWICH – Norwich overwhelmed Chenango Valley with its non-stop frenetic pace Friday night blowing away the Warriors in the second half to remain unbeaten.
Norwich clung to a 17-13 lead late in the first half before erupting for seven points in the last 39 seconds. Caitlyn Brown started the spurt with an outside jumper, Carin Kuhn converted a layup in transition, and Kuhn banged in a three off a feed from Savannah Williams, and Kuhn polished off the half finishing a layup after a dish from Kassidy Seary.
“We talked in the pregame, at halftime, and in a couple of timeouts of wanting to play fast, while Chenango Valley wanted to slow things down,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “We had to force them to play at our speed, and we did.”
Norwich padded its 11-point halftime lead starting the second half on a 14-5 run. Williams and Kuhn ended the salvo with back-to-back three balls raising the lead to 38-18.
Kuhn led a balanced Norwich lineup with 10 points, Brown had nine, and Shelby Benjamin along with Williams scored eight apiece.
Meghan Komendarek led the defense with 11 rebounds.
“The stretches where we took care of the ball, we were very tough to defend,” Bennett said.

Greene 43, Sidney 36
GREENE – Greene overcame a poor night from the free throw line with solid team defense in Friday’s home victory over Sidney.
Katie Carey and Kristie Haskell combined for 35 of the Trojans’ points, and were a combined 11-for-18 from the field from inside the three-point arc. “We moved the ball well up and down the court, we ran the break well, and Katie did a good job defensively of forcing some bad passes,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton.
Greene was 7-for-22 from the free throw line, and Sidney stayed within two or three possessions of the lead hitting seven three-pointers. “Most of those three-pointers were contested shots, but they still went in,” Gorton said. “It was a great team effort defensively, and the stat sheet showed balance all over.”
