Unadilla Valley 50, Cooperstown 43
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley went to an old staple - the full-court press - to pull away for the victory Monday night against visiting Cooperstown.
The win came 48 hours removed from a S-E tournament finals loss at S-E that was never close. "Cooperstown is a little more comparable to us, and we play better at home," said UV coach Matt Osborne.
The press combined with a zone defense led to a 17-10 final quarter. Junior Ryan Postma had the hot hand over the final eight minutes scoring 11 of his team-high 16 points. Postma hit a three and made four of five free throws in the late momens.
Brett Hanslmaier kept UV in the game early scoring 10 points in the first half, and he finished with 13.
UV is idle until next Tuesday when it hosts Unatego.

Edmeston 45, G-MU 21
EDMESTON – Edmeston shot out of the gate building a 21-2 first-quarter lead in a win over visiting G-MU Monday.
Linton Wainright had four threes and led the Panthers with 16 points. "They scored off the opening tip, and got on a roll," said G-MU coach Greg Bonczkowski. "We had some early foul trouble with our point guards, and that dictated the second quarter."
To the Raiders' credit, the 25-point halftime deficit did not decrease the effort in the second half. "Our goal was to win a quarter, and go from there," Bonczkowski said. "We did that in the third quarter with our starters against their starters. It looked like a different team out there, and I was very pleased with our determination and heart."
Nate O'Hara had seven points for G-MU, who play at Oxford Wednesday.

"We came out and played well in the first quarter for the first time this season," said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. "We had shots in the second half, but they didn't seem to want to go in. I'm not disappointed in how we played. We executed in getting the shots we wanted."
