Norwich 96, Holland Patent 85

NORWICH – Norwich had four one-two finishes, and captured nine events to defeat Holland Patent Tuesday in a non-league meet.

The Tornado (6-4) finished first and second in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 backstroke. "With only 10 swimmers available tonight, we did what we had to do," said Norwich coach Kevin Diefenbacher.

Norwich's Maya Blaisure and Marybeth Ward won two individual events apiece; while Danika Tworkowsky and Melissa Stroh added victories. Norwich had the victory sealed before the final event, the 400 free relay.

"There wasn't much wiggle room, so everyone had to perform and beat their competition," Diefenbacher said.

Norwich swims at Oneonta Thursday.
