Man indicted on assault and burglary appears in court, other appearances

NORWICH – Several appeared in Chenango County Court on Friday, June 13 and Monday, June 16 for arraignments and sentencing.

• Christopher L. Turner, 42, Preston, appeared for his arraignment and bail was reduced to $75,000 cash and $750,000 bond.

He was indicted on two counts of first degree assault, a class B felony; burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; burglary in the second degree, a class C felony; assault in the second degree, a class D felony; aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony; and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. He was remanded back to jail and is to appear in court at a later date.

Turner was arrested on April 12, 2014, in Preston after a domestic dispute was reported. Authorities reported that a stun gun was used in the incident, and that four children were in the home at that time. According to a release from the CCSO, two victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

• Ashley R. Wakefield, 28, Preston, appeared in court for arraignment. She was ordered to report to the drug treatment coordinator and was released on her own recognizance and is to appear in a court at a later date.

She was indicted on the charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. Allegedly, Wakefield on or about Jan. 22, 2014, – in concert with others at a Norwich business – did possess heroin with the intent to sell it.

• Noel J. Budram, 18, Bronx, appeared in court for his arraignment. The bail amount was continued at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. He was originally arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. Budram was remanded back to jail until his next court appearance.

Allegedly, he did possess seven baggies of crack cocaine with the intent to sell on or about April 1, 2014.

Budram was also recently arrested on similar charges that allege he was in possession of crack cocaine. That separate matter is pending.

• Lacey L. Gould, 30, Earlville, appeared in court on June 13 and pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the third degree, a class E felony. On Monday, June 16 she was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of one to three years in the New York State Department of Corrections. She is also to pay restitution in the amount of $22,069.93, as well as any surcharges. Payments will be made after her release in the amount of $200 per month until paid in full.

When asked if she would like to make a statement Gould said, “I can't wait until this is over with so I can get back on track.”

• Darren L. Pollock, 28, Norwich, appeared in court for his arraignment. The bail amount was continued at $2,500 and he was remanded back to jail. He is to appear in court at a later date.

Pollock was indicted on five counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony. He was also indicted on six counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony. These various counts are a result of possessing and then sharing still images of child pornography, which was allegedly discovered on September 11, 2013, in Norwich.
