Bainbridge-Guilford came out swing Thursday, scoring three runs in the first inning and 12 in a win against Afton.

The Bobcats began with a lead-off double, followed by a single and another double.

“They hit the ball well in the first inning,” said Afton varsity baseball head coach Ron Rapp,

The game was close after the fourth inning, 6-4, but BG put together four runs in their final at bat to seal the home-field victory.

“They kept picking away each inning then they got the big four in the seventh,” Rapp said, “they kept packing on runs, which is what good teams do.”

Afton struggled with plate discipline and was swinging at ill-advised pitches and managed only eight hits to BG’s 15.

“We could have been a little more disciplined with our sticks today,” Rapp said.

The Bobcat’s Kyle Hanvey had three doubles in the 1:00 match-up in Bainbridge.

Afton plays at home against Walton next, on Tuesday at 4:30.

Bainbridge-Guilford is scheduled for noon today against Unatego at home.
