Local country artist signs publishing deal

NASHVILLE – Local country singer and songwriter, Cassidy Lynn, just signed with Given Music Publishing in Nashville, TN.

While this is a sure sign that the rest of the country is taking notice, Lynn has been in the upstate New York music scene for 15 years, which is a great span of time for a woman who has just turned 26. Music entered her life early, Lynn remembered, as her father worked in radio and her mother and uncle encouraged her to sing using the karaoke system. Some of her favorite influences were LeAnn Rimes, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and the Dixie Chicks – a list that expanded as she grew older to include The Steeldrivers and Waylon Jennings, among others.

While Lynn is a young, emerging artist, she has not forgotten her roots or those of country music. She explained in an email interview, “I have a huge respect for classic country music and where country music's roots come from.” Vice President and General Manager of Given Music Publishing, Mike Sebastian, emphasized this in a press release.

“Cassidy is truly a wonderful young writer with an old soul, and her songs will touch many people,” he said.

Though her career has grown to include songwriting, one of her first memories is singing in a local talent show when she was nine years old. “During my performance I heard a voice clear as day saying, 'You need to do this for the rest of your life.” After that point, Lynn's future as a singer and songwriter was set. She never looked back.

Most fans in the area will know Lynn because of her lead role in the Seven Bridges Band. Later on, Lynn and two other band members separated in order to form “Skyline featuring Cassidy Lynn,” which is how she still performs. Lynn and her band grew so popular that she would perform at various types of venues such as local bars and county fairs. One of her favorite memories when she was still a part of Seven Bridges involved performing at a saloon in Utica.
