SMITHVILLE – Fire crews in the Town of Smithville were able to stop a shed fire Tuesday before flames reached a nearby trailer in the Town of Smithville.

The Smithville Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Willet Fire Department in Cortland County and the Triangle Fire Department in Broome County, responded to a shed fire at 109 Curtis Ln. that was reported shortly before 6 p.m. The fire was contained within minutes.

The shed was only feet away from a mobile home on the same property.

First responders stayed on the scene for less than two hours. No injuries were reported.
