NORWICH – Norwich’s Jenni Borfitz brought her “A game” on a night when she and fellow senior Breanna Cashman were honored.
Playing her final regular season home game for the Tornado (11-5), Borfitz scored a season-high 23 points lifting her club to its 11th victory Tuesday against visiting Windsor.
Borfitz’s scoring was one off her career-high, a 24-point game last season at Windsor.
Norwich started the game with nine straight points, but had the lead whittled back to 11-6 after one period when the Black Knights’ Chase Moran turned a steal at midcourt into a layup with three seconds left in the quarter.
Borfitz had 10 of her points in a 24-point second quarter for Norwich, and Cashman scored eight to stretch the lead to 35-12 at halftime. The lead grew to 30 in the third with the Black Knights making just one basket in the quarter.
NHS reserve guard Makenzie Maynard had a big fourth quarter, and finished with 12 points, while Cashman scored 10.
Norwich’s junior varsity team improved its mark to 13-3 with a 59-16 victory. Bridget Murphy and Michaela Fazio scored 14 apiece to lead Norwich.

GREENE – Greene didn’t need a fourth-quarter comeback in its second meeting with Delhi this season.
Three Trojans players reached double figures scoring led by Katie Carey’s 15 points as Greene won the number five-versus-eight-seed matchup in the Midstate Athletic Conference mini-tournament.
“We were a lot better than the last time we played them,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We did a nice job of shooting the ball and we took care of the basketball. It was a much better effort.”
The Trojans also placed three players in double figures for just the second time this season. Jessica David scored 11 and Tiffany Borst tacked on 10 points. Audrey Platta along with Sierra Stoppkotte shared the team-high in assists with four each.
