Walton 2, Unadilla Valley 1

NEW BERLIN – Walton scored late on deflection off a cornerkick to eke out a one-goal win over Unadilla Valley Wednesday.

Jared Beach came up with the deflected ball scoring the winner for the Warriors with under 10 minutes to play.

"We were all-in up top after they scored (their second goal), we just weren't able to counter in the amount of time that was left," said UV coach Ryan Houck.

The Storm dominated much of the action in the first half, but came away without a goal. Walton's leading scorer, Nate Pieper scored 20 minutes into the second half. After that, Walton went into a defensive shell with nine players either in the midfield or on the back line. Still, a quick UV counter tied the game, Houck said, when Mason Alford beat Walton keeper Dylan Walley near side with a left-footed shot.

Greene 3, Sidney 1

SIDNEY – When it comes to postseason play, Greene is tough to stop.

The Trojans advanced in Section IV Class C tournament Wednesday topping host Sidney.

Tiffany Borst scored in the first half for Greene (8-7), and played one of her best offensive games of the season, said head coach Sue Carlin. Still, Sidney hung in the game, and tied the contest before halftime.

Kristy Haskell broke the tie six minutes into the second half with Laura Durdon and Katherine Klecha providing a double assist. Durdon had the final goal for Greene.

Before Durdon's insurance goal, Greene defender Jess Kehoe prevented Sidney's tying goal attempt pulling a ball off the line that had scooted behind keeper Julia Amell.

"We just had an awesome start. We gave ourselves opportunities tonight, and cashed in on those," Carlin said. "We were a little more hungry in the penalty circle."

Greene plays at Afton on Tuesday.
