NORWICH – The Norwich City Police Department, in concert with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, executed a no-knock search warrant at a Plymouth Street residence on Tuesday, ending an extensive investigation into the sale of heroin.

The search, conducted at 21 Plymouth Street at approximately 5 p.m., led to the arrest of two individuals: Travis Rifanburg and Kajuan Bunn. According to a media release from NPD, detectives received information that “quantities of heroin” were being sold from the residence and obtained a search warrant signed by Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir, Jr.

Those who were arrested were taken into custody without incident. Rifanburg, 33, Norwich, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree; criminal nuisance in the first degree; criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree; and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Bunn, 30, of Brooklyn, NY, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree; criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree; criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument; and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The two were held in the Norwich Police lock-up. An arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday in Norwich City Court.

“This house has been a nightmare for the neighbors in the area and I’m thankful for their patience while the police conducted the investigation,” stated Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino. “This recent investigation was particularly difficult because no one currently owns this residence and everyone in there were ‘squatters’.”

Angelino added that people entering and leaving the residence were “nonstop.”
