Unbeaten Greene Bests Unatego In Toughest Challenge To Date

GREENE - Greene extended its unbeaten record to 7-0 in what head coach Rick Tallman called his team's toughest MAC league test this season.

Kurt Bartholomew scored one minute into the game, and made it a two-goal advantage in the final 90 seconds of the first half. Scott Lord had the lone Trojans goal of the second half. "Unatego came out and played us hard," Tallman said. "They possessed the ball well at times, and their keeper had a nice game."

BAINBRIDGE - Walton's offense was clicking early as four of its 11 first-half shots found the B-G net in a shutout victory over the Bobcats (4-4) Tuesday.

Cameron Murphy scored seven minutes into the game, and Nate Pieper netted the next goal just two minutes later. "We just tried to get a fresh start for the second half," said B-G coach Pete Feltham. "We had some opportunities, but couldn't break the ice."

COPES CORNERS – Cherry Valley-Springfield became the first team to score a goal on G-MU in nearly 300 miinutes of field time tallying twice in the final seven minutes of regulation play Tuesday.

Jon Spencer and Kurt Pressly had goals for CV-S. "We stopped them most of the game, and our defense was great," said G-MU coach Steve Antczak. "Our defensive backfield and goalie have been fabulous all season, we're just having trouble scoring."

Morrisville-Eaton 3, Sherburne-Earlville 1

MORRISVILLE - Morrisville-Eaton responded to S-E's opening goal with the tying tally 90 seconds later in a comeback victory Tuesday.

The Marauders' Megan Rodman scored at the 12:22 mark of the first half, but that lead stood briefly as Jessica Welsh scored the first of her two goals at 10:48. M-E took the lead for good 11:57 into the second half, and added an insurance goal with just 19 seconds left.

"It wasn't a win, but I was pretty happy," said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. "(Morrisville-Eaton) has a very deep team with a lot of strong seniors."

The Marauders (3-6) host Mount Markham Saturday at 10 a.m.

BINGHAMTON – Coming off back-to-back shutout losses, the Trojans returned to the victory column Tuesday beating first-year varsity program Seton Catholic Central.

Kristy Haskell put Greene on the board at 19:45 after pulling a rebound off the pads of Seton's goalie, and putting it away. Just five minutes later, Tiffany Borst upped the advantage to two goals. "This was good for us because we were struggling in the circle, and we had a couple of nice finishes today," said Greene coach Sue Carlin.

Katherine Klecha and Shiann Johns also scored for Greene (4-2), who play at Windsor Thursday.
