Edmeston 11, G-MU 2
COPES CORNERS – In a tuneup for Friday’s Tri-Valley League championship game, Edmeston used five different pitchers to hold G-MU’s bats in check in Monday’s victory over the Raiders.
Panthers starter Linton Wainright pitched two innings and recorded all six of his outs by strikeout. Reliever Clayton Lyon pitched three innings for the victory and struck out four more Raiders.
On the offensive side, Edmeston drew seven walks and had three hit batsmen. Mike Clark had two hits and two RBI in the win, and Clayton Hawes added two hits.
“They’re a good team, and there is a reason why they are playing in our league championship game. They definitely took advantage of the free baserunners,” said G-MU coach Rick Mohrein. “We also had 10 free runners on walks and hit batters, the difference is that we weren’t able to capitalize.”
G-MU eighth-grader Andrew Baker had two hits and one run scored in the loss. The Raiders finish the season with a 4-12 mark.
