CINCINNATUS – A six-run second inning was followed by a four-run third as Otselic Valley rebounded from its lopsided loss to DeRuyter on Friday.

Greg DeRochie went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Travis Sheldon had two hits and three RBI, while Waturu Sakamoto and Tyler Armstrong had two-hit, two-runs-scored afternoons.

Peter Robinson pitched one-hit ball over five innings to pick up the victory. “I was proud of the way we played,” said OV coach Jacob Preston. “It was a completely different team out there from the one that played Wednesday. We put the ball in play; the best we’ve done in two years.”

OV (3-3) plays a doubleheader at Brookfield Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Austin Ticknor followed Connor Graven-Briggs’ triple with two-run homer in the last of the sixth that gave Afton a 7-6 lead. UV forced Afton’s final at-bat when Kurt Haycook smacked an RBI double.

Dakota Kolvik paced the UV bats early finishing 3-for-4 with a triple and a solo home run in the fourth to give the Storm a four-run lead.

G-MU 11, Laurens 3

COPES CORNERS – G-MU played opportunistic offense, and rode the strong pitching of Jason Barrows to earn its second win of the season Friday.

The Raiders benefited from nine Laurens errors, and made the Leopards pay by converting those extra baserunners into runs. “That’s what I was most happy about: Taking care of things when we had runners in scoring position,” said G-MU coach Rick Mohrein. “No matter how we got the runners on, we put the ball in play and made them make plays. That’s half the battle, and we had some timely hits.”
