HANCOCK -Greene overcame a monster night from Hancock's Tyler Phillips to prevail in overtime Friday.
Phillips hit seven three-pointers and finished with a game-high 35 points.
Greene, meanwhile, dominated the overtime period hitting all eight of its free throw attempts to improve its record to 8-2 on the season. "It was one of the best shooting nights I've seen," said Greene coach Rick Smith of Phillips, who said his team clamped down on defense in the extra period. "We were able to get inside for some easy baskets or draw fouls."
Dan Treadwell led three Greene players in double figures scoring totaling 22 points. Zach Wentlent netted 19 and Justin Ekstrom tacked on 11.
Greene hosts Unatego Wednesday.

DEPOSIT - Down by two at halftime, Oxford seized control of Friday's game at Deposit with a 13-4 third quarter.

Of note, Davis said Oxford will be hosting a fundraiser for local food pantries at Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s home basketball games. SOUTH OTSELIC - Otselic Valley dropped its second straight tight game losing to Brookfield by a bucket Friday night.
The Vikings were coming off a one-point defeat to Cincinnatus earlier in the week, a game that was decided with no time on the clock. Against the Beavers, OV (6-6) was unable to hold on to a four-point lead entering the fourth.
"Brookfield got the lead early in the fourth quarter and hung on," said OV coach Dave Loomis. "We just didn't put the ball in the basket enough times."
Brandon Huntley scored 12 points for the Vikings, who play at Stockbridge Valley Tuesday.
