Oxford 62, Walton 47

OXFORD – Oxford jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first quarter, and held the advantage the rest of the way for its third win of the season on Friday.

In its two most recent games, Oxford held the lead at halftime, but faded in the second half. Walton, too, made a run at the Blackhawks, one the host club was able to quash. “We got a little tired in the third quarter, but we made some substitutions and were able to slow the game down,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis.

Andrew Golden scored 17 in the first period lifting his club to a 23-8 lead. Golden finished with 32 points and 16 rebounds, while junior Cameron Heggie chipped in with a career-best 17 points including nine in the final quarter. Oxford (3-5) is at Harpursville Tuesday.
