Pat Grasso Tournament Final

LAURENS – In the finals of Laurens’ Pat Grasso tourney, traditional Class D power South Kortright forced 35 G-MU turnovers, and pulled away in the second period en route to the title.
Tori Rockefeller canned two three balls and scored 10 points, while Kayla Craft added 10 for the Rams. “We played great defense in the halfcourt throughout the game, but with two minutes left in the first half, a seven-point deficit ballooned to 15 because of turnovers,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “That gave them confidence to turn up the pressure, which they are very good at. We just lost a little composure.”

Greene Tip-Off Tournament Final
Chenango Forks 45, Greene 25
GREENE - Chenango Forks turned the momentum of the game its way in the second quarter overcoming an early deficit to win the Greene Tip-Off Tournament title game by 20 points Saturday night.
Ashley Williams hit five three-pointers leading the Blue Devils with 15 points, and tournament MVP Mikala Transue added a dozen. Chenango Forks trailed 11-4 after one period, but outscored the host Trojans by 27 points the rest of the way. “We turned it over way too much, and our youth showed,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton, whose club had 28 turnovers. “We played very well in the first quarter, and really had some opportunities to take a really big lead into the second quarter. We basically put ourselves in bad spots, and took too many risky chances in the second quarter.”
