Benedict timed a 19:53 over the sloppy 3.1-mile course at Oriskany that was soaked by Friday’s rain. Adding a 53rd was junior Ryan Palmiter in 21:11. “We’re such a young team with a sophomore and junior leading us, and the next three being freshmen,” said S-E coach Anne Geary. “We have all but one of our top seven coming back, and we’re already looking forward to next season.”
Gabby Huff placed 69th (27:28) for the S-E girls leading an incomplete squad. “Even though we ran incomplete, we were upbeat considering the conditions,” Geary said.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Norwich 100, Windsor 74
NORWICH - Norwich leveled its season mark at 5-5 on the season toppling Windsor at Echentile Natatorium Friday.
Eighth-grader Danika Tworkowsky swam season-bests winning the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in 26.69 and 59.65 respectively. Tworkowsky’s swims were two of six personal-bests for the Tornado, who are heading into the home stretch of the season. “We’re trying to get our times down for seedings at sectionals, and we accomplished some of that,” said Norwich coach Kevin Diefenbacher. “Friday was what we called a captain’s meet where our captains got to set the lineup. What they lined up was pretty decent, and it was a fun thing.”
Junior Erin Gawronski also won two individual events for Norwich taking the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Other winners were Courtney Llewellyn (200 individual medley), Ravyn Benedict (100 backstroke), and Nicole Mealey (100 breaststroke).
Norwich wraps up its regular season Tuesday when it hosts Section III’s Holland Patent.
