FIELD HOCKEY

Greene 5, Windsor 0

GREENE – It took a while for the Trojans’ offense to kick into gear Monday. Jahna Driscoll scored the first of her three goals18 minutes into the opening half, and Greene went on to a shutout victory.

“There was a lot of play between the 25s,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “They kind of packed in the defense, and we had some trouble getting in there. That first goal, I don’t even think their goalie saw it.”

Driscoll took a penalty corner from Emma Anderson and blistered her shot into the cage. Anderson made it 2-0 at halftime tipping in a shot from Emily Conroe. The Trojans’ next three goals came within an eight-minute span of the second half. Aside from Driscoll, Colleen Dietrich had a tally.

SOUTH OTSELIC - Otselic Valley jumped out to a two-goal halftime lead in winning last weekend’s game over league rival DeRuyter.

The Vikes (4-2) scored in the first minute taking the ball up the left side. Waturu Sakamoto fed a pass to Brent Rasmussen for an 18-yard shot that found the side netting. Rasmussen and Trevor Marston each finished with two goals and one assist as OV built its lead to 4-1 midway through the second half.

“This is our first game where we were ready to play from the start of the whistle,” said OV coach Jacob Preston. “Trevor, Jason Olin, and Jon Lyon hit the post with shots or else we could have really opened up the game.”
