Editor,
I have known Frank Revoir for 30 years and have had the opportunity to watch him mature as he progressed from Norwich High School student, to college and law school graduate (Cum Laude), and on into adulthood with all the attending responsibilities that family, community and a profession bring. In wading through all that has been written and stated about each of the candidates throughout this campaign, I have found it instructive to review how Frank has dealt with those responsibilities, noted above, as they might apply to the position of County Court Judge.
Regarding his family, Frank and his wife Edi make their home in the City of Norwich next door to his law office. Frank has consistently shown a deep commitment to his family through all the ups and downs every family experiences. There is no better testimony for any parent than the demonstrated feelings of love, admiration and loyalty that Frank’s children have provided to him. When Frank’s large and extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins) gathers, it is a joyous occasion and a celebration on all levels with music, food and laughter. All people both inside and outside the family are welcome, invited and included. It is from this upbringing and continued tradition that Frank comes by his acceptance of all people, regardless of their lot in life. Acceptance, however, does not mean a lack of accountability. He clearly defines what is unacceptable and holds family and friends alike responsible for their behavior.
Frank has shown a strong commitment to his Chenango County community by returning to it upon his graduation from law school to practice his profession 21 years ago. His roots are here. With his return he has become an integral part of the fabric of the greater Chenango community mosaic by his involvement as a current board member of Colorscape and Commerce Chenango. Over the past 21 years Frank has been on the governing boards of Norwich BID, Council of the Arts, Hospice, Holy Family School, Phoenix Project, Chenango Community Players, and the Tri-Town Theater. He is a member of the Sons of the American Legion and Lost Pond Club. Over the course of the past several years Frank has been a member of the Norwich Rotary Club, a Chenango County Republican Committee member and a Pumpkin Festival volunteer. Additionally, he is a member of numerous state and local bar associations. Frank believes in the obligation every citizen has to give back and serve his community.
Professionally, Frank has been an attorney for 21 years, beginning as a law clerk for then County Court Judge Kevin Dowd. Following that valuable experience with the Court Frank has since had 16 years of successful practice as:
• a criminal defense attorney and as a prosecutor (Assistant County Attorney) serving as the sole prosecutor for all juvenile delinquents in Chenango County Family Court. Both roles have provided him in-depth working knowledge of the Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and the Corrections Law.
