GREENE – Unatego pitcher Quinn Barnhardt was not dominant, but he was effective.

Barnhardt struck out six and walked six in no-hitting Greene Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans scored all of their runs in the opening inning, the lone RBI coming on Kellen Komenda’s sacrifice fly. The other three runs came on passed balls and wild pitches.

“We just didn’t get good swings (at Barnhardt),” said Greene coach Steve Burghardt, who applauded his own pitcher, Josh Hurlburt. “(Hurlburt) was fabulous the last six innings, he just wasn’t with it in the first inning.”

SHERBURNE - Mike Wilson tossed a three-hit shutout for Sherburne-Earlville, who moved its record to 3-1 in Center State Conference Division One play on Wednesday.

Wilson struck out seven, walked two, and was backed by solid defense.

Cole Hodges finished with three RBI hitting a two-run single in the second and adding an RBI single in the third as the Marauders constructed a 5-0 lead to support Wilson. Mick Khoury and Wilson contributed RBI doubles in the win.

“We did leave a few runners on base, but the kids are staying back and hitting the ball well,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “We played great defense tonight. We had new kids all over the infield to cover for three starters who were out...it was a good win for us.”

The Marauders play at Ilion today.

Greene 15, Unatego 0 (6 innings)

GREENE – Rebecca Hanrahan threw the second perfect game of her four-year varsity career and ninth no-hitter overall as Greene won for the second time in as many nights.

Hanrahan struck out 10 in six innings and was dominant from the start, said Greene head coach Rick Smith. “This is the second game in a row that Becca didn’t walk anyone, and it’s the second game in a row we didn’t make an error,” Smith said. “In earlier games we were dealing with passed balls, walks, and errors. We’re starting to clean those up.”

Taylor Ellis and Caitlin Willis hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning. Ellis hit a two-run shot to highlight her 5-for-5 day that included five RBI, and Willis went deep for a solo shot finishing 3-for-4. Natalie Greene also went 3-for-4 driving in two runs.

Greene upended Hancock 3-1 on Tuesday evening behind 11 strikeouts from Hanrahan. The Trojans took the lead with a single run in the sixth. Hanrahan singled, one of her three hits, and stole second. Morgan Ellis reached on an error, and Hanrahan came home with her team’s second run.
