Andrew Golden pitched six strong innings for the victory giving up just one run. He struck out seven and walked two, and he was supported by two-RBI nights from Ryan Moore and Richard Ryan.

Oxford pulled away in the fourth inning scoring five times to break a 1-1 tie. Moore hit a run-scoring double to make it 2-1, and Ryan added a two-run single. Golden helped his own cause finishing 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

“Our pitchers have been doing a better job of not putting people on base with walks, and Andrew was in command the whole way,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “Our pitching has been coming around, even going back into last week.”

Oxford (3-4) plays at Harpursville Thursday.

G-MU 19, Franklin 9

FRANKLIN – G-MU’S rollercoaster ride of season yielded a second win Tuesday night as the Raiders powdered Franklin’s pitching for 16 hits in a Tri-Valley League victory.

G-MU senior DeMario Reed, making his first start, pitched four innings for the victory. He struck out nine, allowed one hit, and no earned runs. “It helped having DeMario pitch for us. He did well last year, and he picked up where he left off,” said G-MU coach Rick Mohrein. “He mixed his spots well and he controls the ball so well.”

Dan Primrose led G-MU with four hits and two RBI. Jason Barrows slugged three hits and drove in two, and Nate Fuller added a pair of hits.

G-MU hosts Morris on Thursday.

Greene 7, Afton 6

GREENE – Greene rebounded from a one-run loss Monday to rally past Afton in Tuesday afternoon’s win.

Both of the Trojans’ runs in the winning sixth were unearned. Zach Lindow hit a two-out single, and Joe Beckwith reached on a throwing error that put runners on the corners. Beckwith stole second, and Nick Viglucci’s infield grounder led to a throwing error that scored Lindow and Beckwith.

“Out of the 13 runs, I think there were only four runs batted in,” said Greene coach Steve Burghardt.

Kurt Bartholomew and Lane Whittaker had ribbies for the Trojans (2-5).

Afton, who has three one-run losses in the last week, had an RBI single from Mark Viviano. The Knights’ Josh Davy was the lone player with two hits.

Hancock 7, B-G 6 (8 innings)

HANCOCK - Hancock was just about down to its last pitch before making a stunning rally to defeat B-G in eight innings Tuesday night.

Down 3-2 to the Bobcats in the seventh, B-G pitcher Austin Bauerle retired the first two batters, and had a 2-2 count on the Wildcats’ Rocco Christian. Christian hit an opposite-field home run on the next pitch to force extra innings.

B-G regrouped with a two-out rally to score three runs in the top of the eighth. Mark Cordner hit a two-run double, and he scored on Lucas Butcher’s single.

Hancock came back to put four runs on the board without making an out. A walk and two singles loaded the bases, and Eli Holton’s double cleared the bases knotting the game. Tom Banicky singled to plate Holton with the game-winning run.

“Some of young kids came through at the bottom of the order, and this was just a tough one to lose,” said B-G coach Tim Mattingly. “To have a 2-2 count with two outs and give up an opposite-field homer, that was just a killer. To my kids’ credit, we scored three with two outs in eighth, and had chance to win, it just didn’t happen. Give Hancock credit, their kids battled and came up with the hits.”

Cordner was 2-for-4 with four RBI, and Brandon Lamont added two hits and two RBI for B-G in the loss.

Sherburne-Earlville 15, Adirondack 5

SHERBURNE – Dallas Moryl hit a two-run triple in the opening inning for Sherburne-Earlville Monday, and Carter Cole was a perfect 4-for-4 with a homer and seven RBI in the Marauders’ rout of Adirondack Monday.

Matt Smith pitched five innings to win his second game of the season striking out five.

Cole was a double short of the cycle and added two stolen bases. Jake Bohnert drove in three runs and Matt Crandall had two RBI.

Greene 6, Afton 1

GREENE – Greene pitcher Rebecca Hanrahan allowed just two hits, and Greene continued its recent mastery over Afton with its fifth straight victory over the Crimson Knights.

Greene scored three runs in the bottom of the second off Afton pitcher Payton Cutting. Gabby Sherwood had an RBI single, and Caitlin Willis followed with a two-run double.

Willis also hit a solo homer in the fourth, and Hanrahan homered in the fifth. “Nothing changes from year to year for Afton. They’re young, but it’s always a good stepping stone for anyone who can beat them,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “It’s a good measuring stick for us because (Afton) makes you play all parts of the game.”

Afton scored its lone run in the seventh when Connor Decker singled, stole second, and eventually came home on a passed ball.
