Robbie Wheeler was 2-for-2 for Norwich with an RBI and a run scored, Colby Griffin ripped a two-run single, while Justin Lindenthaler and John Yacano added ribbies for the Tornado. “Everybody in our lineup produced tonight,” Martinson added, whose club is 2-0 in road games.

Greene 9, Harpursville 3

HARPURSVILLE – Greene’s improvement through the opening week of games yielded its first win of the season Thursday.

Since a no-hit loss to Norwich on Monday, the Trojans’ bats have generated plenty of hits, and the 12 singles against the Hornets provided offense aplenty for senior pitcher Jeff Carlin. “Tonight was a really big step,” said Greene coach Steve Burghardt. “It was a case where the younger kids watched our senior pitcher make use of defense, and give up just one harmless walk.”

Carlin struck out seven and scattering seven hits in am 83-pitch route-going performance.

Nick Viglucci led the Trojans’ hitters with a 3-for-4 day and two runs scored. Brett Ramsey smacked a two-run single in the third inning, and Carlin had a pair of runs scored. Greene is now 1-2 on the season.

DELHI – Delhi raced to an 8-0 lead after three innings to hand Oxford its third loss of the week on Thursday.

Delhi’s Brandon Snyder had RBI doubles in the second and third innings, and Tyler Hymers added an RBI single in the second. Hymers also picked up the win pitching 6 1-3 innings. He struck out nine and walked three. “We thought that if we could limit our errors and put the ball in play, we had a good shot (to win) today,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “Give Delhi credit for starting quick.”

Ryan Moore had two hits for Oxford.

G-MU claimed the lead in the top half of the fifth scoring five runs of its own. Jason Barrows, DeMario Reed, and Tim French had consecutive RBI hits. “It seemed like the times we put their guys on base or made an error, it came back and bit us,” said G-MU coach Rick Mohrein. “We only have three guys back from last year and it was our first game against another team. We did a pretty good job with the exception of the fifth inning.”

Barrows, Austin Burnside, and Christian Merlo had two hits apiece for G-MU, who play at Afton Monday.
