HazMat training in Norwich

The Norwich Fire Department held its last day of Hazmat training exercises this morning, wrapping-up 40 hours of hands-on hazardous material instruction this week. According to Norwich FD Capt. Jeff Steward, some members of the department received the in-depth training approximately ten years ago; for others, this was their first experience with this type of exercise. Hazmat suits provide protection whenever fire personnel are forced to respond to any emergency involving hazardous materials, including those that are chemical, toxic, flammable, radioactive or explosive in nature.
