Playing on Waterville’s turf field, the Marauders struggled with their passing early on before scoring at the 22-minute mark. “The touches were a little off. It’s a lot faster surface, and the girls had to adjust,” said S-E coach Kylie Davis of the turf.

Mikayla Solloway scored off a Sarah Cole pass, and just a little while later, Brianna Vibbard gave the Marauders a two-goal edge. Emma Karaman netted S-E’s lone goal of the second half.

NORWICH – After a scoreless first half, Windsor scored the game’s only goal 10 minutes into the second half to blank the Tornado (0-6) Wednesday afternoon.

Jeannette Bobier was credited with Windsor’s goal off a Sherree Baker pass. “We’re a good team that just happens to have a bad record,” said Norwich coach Dianne Fiorina. “We just can’t get that first win. Once we get that, it will be a big weight off everyone’s shoulders.”

Fiorina credited the senior play and leadership of Taylor Hagenbuch, Alyssa MacIntosh, and Kayla Hughes, who spearhead a young roster. “They’re doing a nice job with the younger kids, and they’re holding the team together,” Fiorina said of her seniors.

Field Hockey

Sherburne-Earlville 1, Hamilton 0

HAMILTON – Sherburne-Earlville made a first-half goal stand up as it won its third league game out of four, and improved to 4-2 overall this season.

Taylor Jordan capitalized for the Marauders when she converted a penalty stroke with 10:42 left in the first 30 minutes. “The offense was doing its job, and Taylor made the stroke,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “(Hamilton) was down in our circle a few times, and that is stressful as a coach, but they weren’t getting many shots. We also had many opportunities that we just missed.”
