Unadilla Valley 2, Oxford 1
NEW BERLIN – Coming off an overtime tie the night before, Unadilla Valley bounced back with a comeback win over Oxford Wednesday.
Taylor Davis tied the game for UV 15 minutes into the second half when she broke through the Oxford defense to score unassisted. In the game’s final 12 minutes, Jennifer Elliott picked up a loose ball in the penalty area, and tucked away the game-winner.
“It seems like we’ve been a second-half team, and we came out and played a better second half tonight,” said UV coach Janelle Ross. “I think we were a little complacent early in the game and stabbing at the ball. Oxford made a couple of nice passes, and just beat our goalie.”
Oxford’s goal came just 2:39 into play when Emily Smith fed Jessica Russo on a through ball for a one-on-one breakaway tally.
UV returns to action Friday when it hosts Unatego.

Greene 5, Hancock 0
HANCOCK – Defending Section IV champion Greene came out strong after a long layoff building a 4-0 lead over Hancock en route to its second win of the season.
Jahna Driscoll scored off a pass following extended penalty corner action just four minutes into the game. Driscoll finished with three goals, Conroe scored once, and Jessica Durdon netted her first varsity goal.
“Once we got settled in, I was really pleased with our passing and all-around play,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “We were able to finish in the circle tonight.”
Carlin, thanks to a large first-half lead, was able to work in her bench for extended minutes in the second half. “The reserves came in and did a great job,” Carlin said. “I wasn’t concerned so much about maintaining the shutout as long as the girls played well, and they did.”
Greene is at Walton Friday.
