BOYS’ SOCCER
Johnson City 8, Norwich 2
NORWICH – After Norwich’s Cameron Prime tied the game midway through the first half on a direct kick, Johnson City scored seven straight times to pull away for the victory Thursday.
The Wildcats proceeded to a 3-1 halftime lead, one of those tallies an own goal. Just 18 seconds into the second half, JC’s Antonio Kadylak netted an unassisted goal, the first of five in the second half. “We played a better first half, but with them scoring early in the second half, that deflated our team a little bit,” said Norwich coach Steve Prime. “We lunged at the ball too much on defense, and they just went around us and got off some good shots.”
Billy Whaley scored unassisted for Norwich late in the second half in a scramble in front of the goal after a cornerkick. The Tornado return to action next Thursday against Owego.

G-MU 2, Worcester 1
COPES CORNERS – Jason Barrows scored his first varsity goal in his initial varsity game helping G-MU open its season with a victory Thursday afternoon.
Barrows scored in the first half on what head coach Mark Luettger called, “a hustle play more than anything else.” After an initial shot was taken, Barrows zoned in on the loose ball, and tucked it away giving his club the early lead.
Early in the second half, returning veteran player, Greg Delaney, gave the Raiders a two-goal cushion. “We played fairly well in our first game, and I was surprised at how well we passed the ball,” Luettger said. “It was a good first step for us, and we’ll definitely take the win.”
G-MU plays at Franklin Wednesday, Sept. 7.

BAINBRIDGE – Greene raised its goal total to 18 in just two MAC games, and Alex Driscoll scored five times to give him eight over the first two contests.
Alex Leone added two tallies to push his season total to seven, and Corey Dietrich scored on a long direct kick 10 minutes into the game to open the scoring.
“Greene is usually a strong team, and they may be the class of the league again,” said B-G coach Pete Feltham. “After they scored their first goal, the floodgates opened after that.”
B-G hosts Oxford next Friday at 7 p.m.
