There are a lot of years that stick out in people’s minds. Such as when that special someone was born, when some big event happened, or even when something started that everyone will remember. For me, I always remember the year 1961. I was born 10 years after it (Now I’m really showing my age) but this was the year that Marvel Comics started to get going. This started the ball rolling with “The Fantastic Four” created by Comic Legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby who created more comics such as “The Incredible Hulk,” “X-Men,” and a whole lot more. Even further down the road, movie studios started to notice that these great characters just might make Good movies and this is what has been happening over the last few years. This year has been having “Thor,” “X-Men: First Class, and now “Captain America: The First Avenger” has been released. Now we have to wait until next year for “The Avengers” with all of our heroes on this great team. The Toddster has put together his favorites with a special “Toddster’s Take” on the Captain.
Spider Man - Some people have a way of falling into something they don’t expect. Peter Parker (Tobey Mcguire) went on a science field trip with his friends Harry Osborn (James Franco) and Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Peter had always had a soft spot for Mary Jane but didn’t let her know it. Harry tried to encourage him to pursue it. The lab they were touring had a lot of interesting specimens including spiders they were doing research with and one of them got loose. When Peter wasn’t looking, one cam down and bit Peter. The next thing Peter knows he’s able to jump high, crawl up walls, and became quite strong. Harry’s Father Norman (Willam Dafoe) was doing research too with a new strength formula that had an unusual effect on him and made him dangerous. Some time later, Peter has made a few choices that he regrets. One of them being the loss of his Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson). Peter decides to use his new power to help people and that makes Norman notice him. He goes after Mary Jane and his family. Will Peter be able to use his new power to stop him?
The Fantastic Four - We all find things when we go on a trip. Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) wanted to make the World a better place with his research and going into space was the best way to do that. With his partners Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis), Susan Storm (Jessica Alba), and Johnny Storm (Chris Evans), they use Victor Von Doom’s (Julian McMahon) space station to wait for a cosmic storm that would help them complete it. Reed’s calculations are off and all of them are exposed to the storm. Their exposure gives them all incredible powers and at first they’re not sure what to do. They don’t know that Doom was exposed to the Storm too and Doom’s motives aren’t exactly all that nice. Can Reed and the rest of the team get it together to find out what Doom wants to do and stop what he has planned?
The Incredible Hulk - Making things better for people is never an easy job. Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) wanted to do that with his colleague Betty Ross (Liv Tyler). During an experiment, Bruce is exposed to an overdose of Gamma radiation that at times of stress turns him into a creature of incredible strength with a really bad attitude. For five years, this takes Bruce on the run from the Army and Betty’s Father General Ross (William Hurt). Ross recruits Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) to help get Banner. This doesn’t work as planned and Banner becomes the Hulk to escape. Bruce decides to come home to get help and Betty finds him to give him his research to complete a cure. The General has also been helping Blonsky and has given him enhanced strength to complete his mission. That might have been a mistake because Emil uses Bruce’s research to become a creature like the Hulk that might be stronger than him. Bruce has to become the Hulk. Can Bruce’s new research, with the Hulk’s Power, be enough to stop Blonsky?
