Unatego 3, Unadilla Valley 2
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley probably wishes it saved some of the 22 runs it scored Tuesday for Wednesday’s game against Unatego.
The Storm had a two-run single from Travis Conklin in the third inning to score Brandon Miles and Justin Hofer cutting the Unatego lead to one run.
The Spartans had three unearned runs, the first on a triple and throwing error scoring Dan Shelton in the second. Codie Nichols and Tyler Butler scored after a pair of UV errors in the third.
“It was definitely a pitchers’ game,” said UV coach Tom Locke. “In close games like these, it usually comes down to errors and who makes less. Unatego just made less mistakes.”
Shelton and Josh Lambrecht had two hits apiece for the Spartans.

WESTMORELAND – Sherburne-Earlville improved over its first outing against Westmoreland, but had trouble mustering much offense in Wednesday’s defeat.
The Marauders committed three errors, but the three contributed to six unearned runs. “Unfortunately the errors we did make happened when they had runners in scoring position,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “After the previous two games, we were hoping to survive. We played much better tonight.”
Matt Brundidge hit a two-run double as part of Westmoreland’s four-run second to build a 5-0 lead.
Mike Wilson had two doubles for S-E, who play at Camden Saturday.

G-MU 21, Morris 4
COPES CORNERS – G-MU put aside a disappointing loss to Edmeston Monday with a runaway win over Morris yesterday afternoon.
The Mustangs scored their first three runs in the top of the fifth to close the G-MU lead to 7-3. The Raiders came back with six tallies of their own, and put the game completely out of reach notching eight in the sixth.
“We made a couple of errors that led to their runs in the fifth, but we got those runs right back and kept going,” said G-MU coach Rick Mohrein. “The kids were down on Monday, but we decided to move on, and we still have a good record.”
Corin Todd had his best game of the season finishing 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs scored, and three stolen bases. Jason Barrows knocked in two runs in a 2-for-4 day.
G-MU freshman Austin Burnside pitched six innings to earn his first varsity win.

Greene 11, Oxford 7
OXFORD – Matt Jones had a big day at the plate, and he did enough on the mound to earn a complete-game victory at Oxford Wednesday.
Jones was 5-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Curtis Richards went 4-for-5, and Andy Norton hit a pinch-hit home run for the Trojans in the fifth. “We fielded the ball much better than we have, but Greene did a nice job hitting the ball, and they were pretty consistent at the plate.”
Oxford’s Adam Pierson was 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, and Jeff Lawton hit a two-run homer in the sixth.
