GREENE – Greene advanced to the finals of its own tournament shutting out Norwich in the opening game, but lost in the finals to Chenango Forks, its first defeat in 12 contests.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a four-run lead on the opening inning keyed by Brooke Shield’s RBI triple. The Blue Devils added two more runs in the second.
Greene’s lone tally came in the fifth when the Trojans’ Rebecca Hanrahan walked with the bases loaded. “We just didn’t hit the ball like have been,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “We had opportunities in the fourth and fifth, but could not come up with the big hit.”
The Trojans had three hits from Caitlin Willis and two hits from Hanrahan to defeat the Tornado. Willis doubled twice and scored two runs; Hanrahan collected two RBI. Hanrahan allowed one hit in pitching her ninth shutout this season.

Franklin 14, G-MU 2
FRANKLIN – Jessie Terrano had three hits and scored three runs for once-beaten Franklin in a rout of the Raiders.
G-MU struck first taking a two-run lead in the top of the first when Katie Bakhuizen hit a two-run homer. Franklin worked its way back into the game drawing 14 walks to go with nine basehits.

G-MU wins tourney at Richfield Springs
RICHFIELD SPRINGS – G-MU came from behind in each game Saturday and claimed the Richfield Springs Tournament.
The Raiders made up a 7-2 deficit to Cherry Valley-Springfield in the opening game to prevail, 10-8. The Raiders scored four in the fifth to make it a 7-7 game, and after CV-S pulled ahead but one in the top of the sixth, the Raiders tacked on three more runs in the bottom half. Alicia Sebeck had an RBI single in the sixth, and finished 3-for-4 with four RBI. Lauren Hill was also 3-for-4 scoring three runs and driving in one. Sebeck pitching four innings of relief giving up a single run for the victory.
G-MU trailed Remsen 2-1 entering the bottom of the fifth when it scored five times en route to a 6-4 title win. The Raiders loaded the bases quickly, then drew three straight walks to take the lead. Hill finished off the uprising with a two-run single.
“The first game was rough getting down and having to fight back,” said G-MU coach Tina Cole. “We were able to do that, and hopefully we can go to Edmeston Monday and keep it going.”
Jenny Mason pitched 6 2-3 innings in the second game for the win. Sebeck came in with the bases loaded and induced a short pop up that bounced in front of home base. Raiders catcher Brianne McPherson picked up the ball, and made diving tag of the Remsen baserunner for the final out.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville ended a 27-game winless streak Friday night edging Mount Markham at home.
Destinie Holmquist picked up the victory for the Marauders striking out four, walking none, and scattering 10 hits. S-E’s defense was also sound committing just one error.
“We needed this win for team morale,” said S-E coach Michelle Parker. “Destinie did a great job. I hope this is the start of a win streak.”
