How many times have you been watching some show on television like “Entertainment Tonight” or “Access Hollywood” and you see how a star got started or some parts they had to play to pay their dues in show business to get where they are now? The Toddster has seen some stars in some pretty good movies. They may not be box office smashes but are all right in my book and I think they deserve an honorable mention. We’ve managed to find a few hidden gems with some worthy stars and they’ve been on the Patrol’s radar at one time or another. Let’s see what we’ve got.
Sandra Bullock
Love Potion #9 (1992) - It’s funny the things you find and then later they might have an impact on your life. Paul Matthews (Tate Donovan) was never really a ladies’ man but kept on trying. One day, he decides to ask a fortune teller (Anne Bancroft) his fortune to see if he would meet anyone special. She gives a love potion to him that is destined not to fail. Being a scientist he had to test it and enlists the help of his co worker Diane (Bullock). They find that the potion is everything the fortune teller said and more. For further study, they each take a sample of the formula and they use it to make things better for themselves. Diane has more luck than Paul does at first. The more they use it, it seems to bring them closer together. Will they discover that all they need is each other and not some love potion?
Michael J. Fox
The Secret of My Success (1987) - Trying to make it in the Big City is not always an easy thing. Brantley Foster (Fox) was determined to prove that a Kansas farm boy could make his mark on the world. He moves to New York City to start a new job only to find that the company had been the victim of a hostile takeover. As a last resort, his mother gives him the phone number of an uncle who made it and might be able to help him. He does and has to start in the mailroom. Working behind the scenes is not always a bad thing and you’d be surprised what you can accomplish when not a lot of people know who you are. He thinks he’s found a way to do it but the executives may have other ideas. Brantley meets Kristy Wills (Helen Slater) and his world is turned upside down. Is Brantley going to make it to the top and find a way to be with his lady love?
