OXFORD – On senior recognition night, Oxford raced to a 14-1 lead in the opening quarter to win its eighth straight game on Thursday. The Blackhawks improved to 9-2 in league, and will occupy either the second, third or fourth seed in next week’s Midstate Athletic Conference Tournament.

Playing little more than half the game, Haley Witchella led the Blackhawks with 21 points, and Jackie Heggie added 13. Kayla Golden, one of four Oxford seniors, added a season-high eight points.

“We wanted to come out and get a jump them early,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We believed we were the better team, and we were able to come out and do what we wanted to do.”
