Norwich 2, Windsor 1

WINDSOR – Down by a goal at halftime, Norwich picked up the pace in the second half scoring twice for its first win of the season on Tuesday.

Tori Parsons hit a pass over the Windsor defense to Miranda Costin, who scored the tying goal with 18:50 expired in the second half. Four minutes later, Parsons beat the Windsor defense with fine individual moves, and connected on a shot from just inside 18 yards for the game-winner.

“We played a much better second half and the girls were happy with themselves,” said Norwich coach Dianne Fiorina. “It’s like the light has now been turned on for us.”

Field Hockey

Greene 5, Sidney 0

GREENE – Greene recorded its eighth straight shutout this season, although Sidney provided the most difficult challenge for the Trojans’ defense.

“It was great to be tested on defense, and we needed it,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “(Sidney) has some fast players that are highly skilled. We had to get back on defense and hold our own.”

Greene made its offensive opportunities count netting four goals in the first half, three off penalty corners. Jahna Driscoll had the first and last goal of the opening 30 minutes, and Andrea Day along with Abbey Wentlent tallied the other two. Driscoll’s second goal came in extended play on a penalty corner after the first-half time had expired.

“We passed the ball well tonight, and we had some nice executions from the backs, to the mids, and up to the forwards,” Carlin said.

Sidney finished with 16 shots on Greene, the most by any Trojans opponent this season. Trojans cageminder, Devyn Staley, finished with 14 saves.

Summary

(4-0 at half)
