Get ready, Patrollers! We have to be very, very quiet. The DVD Patrol is hiding because we’re on the hunt for some new DVDs after our special field trip to Pennsylvania this week. Either way, you know it’s still going to be cold. That’s Central New York for you. That hunter from the woods, the Toddster, is taking a break to show you what we’ve caught. Hope everyone enjoyed our Saturday Night Live Special last week. The DVDs are in our sights so let’s see what we’ve got.
New on DVD
Zombieland - Life isn’t always about work. You have to get out and have a little fun once in a while. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) was pretty much just your average kid who didn’t go out a lot until a weird event happened and now people have started to turn into zombies. He goes on the run until he meets Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) who treats killing zombies like it’s the new national pass-time. Along the way. they meet Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) who have been doing pretty well themselves. Thrown together by accident, they team up to better their chances. Will they find out what turned everyone into zombies before they get turned themselves? Another new DVD along the same lines is “Universal Soldier: Regeneration.” Jean Claude Van Damme returns for more action as Luc Devereau where he is thawed out to take out the latest generation of soldier that has gone haywire. Dolph Lundgren has also come back to try and take down Van Damme’s character. Who will win this new battle?
Whip It - When you’re in school, the teachers always tell you that you have to take up a sport. Bliss (Ellen Page) always won every beauty pageant she was ever in. Those kinds of things can get to be boring after some time has passed. Bliss becomes fascinated at watching roller derby. Not exactly a sport for a budding Miss America. She goes to meet the woman Malice (Kristen Wiig) to try and get some advice. Malice tells her to lace up some skates and give it a try. At first, she’s not so good but with some practice, look out. When her mother finds out, she’s not exactly thrilled about her daughter’s newest choice. Can Bliss stay with it or will her Mother make her go back to the runway? This fun romp was directed by Drew Barrymore who also stars and her new film is called “Going the Distance” coming out in theaters later in 2010.
